Who we are

Tristen Woolley

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Previously a solo digital marketing and management consultant, he is experienced in the selection, design, and implementation of complex software solutions, including ensuring a product's unique marketability in a competitive landscape. In addition to the requirement of creating an outstanding product, he understands that a company lives or dies based on the quality of its client relations, the understanding of its user feedback, and the speed of product iterations.

“Efficiency isn't laziness, it's respect for your time. Working longer doesn't mean you're working harder and each problem does not always have a correct solution. I approach problems in new abstract ways with the goal of finding the most efficient solution. I've always valued my free time and now Kai exists to give you yours back.”

Marc Svartstein

Co-Founder & Technical Partner

A freelance software developer by trade, he started Kai as his personal setup. He wanted agents that could carry a real codebase without losing the plot, so he built the harness himself, implemented it into his existing projects, and watched weeklong tasks get reduced to hours. These gains in efficiency with respect to token usage, productivity, and accuracy, along with the cost savings that came with them, led to the birth of Kai as a public tool.

“I've never really had a regular workday, and building Kai never felt like a job. It's the problem I can't stop thinking about, and every task it finishes shows me something it could do better. If I'm not working on Kai, you can be sure I'm thinking about how to improve it.”

What we do

The Kogniv team at work

Kai is an app powered by the Kogniv Agentic Harness (aH), designed to allow all users to leverage the benefits of AI agents, while ensuring their usage is both as efficient and easy to use as possible.

By allowing users to prompt and discuss topics with their AI agents in simple chat formats, Kai aims to make agentic work legible, efficient, and reviewable so that the outcomes are more direct and match expectations the first time.

We are continually improving Kai and its agent's associated guidance documents to better handle requests, saving our users valuable tokens and extending the use of their preferred AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, API alternatives, and more. We frequently run benchmarks on a variety of AI tasks comparing Kai to our competitors. We also specialise in tokenomics, the discipline of efficient AI token usage for our power users and enterprise clients, with a specific focus on reducing your monthly AI spend through both API and subscription limits.

What we believe

01

Tokenomics is the single most important AI discipline of the next decade.

Every token that reaches a model should earn its place. As AI gets smarter, it thinks more, and just like humans this leads to overthinking and overworking. As we move towards autonomous agents, this problem only becomes more important. Ensuring that agents stay on task and only communicate relevant information, greatly reduces the inefficiencies introduced by agents, removes the necessity of continual monitoring of their work, and maximises the utility provided per dollar of AI.

02

Agentic AI should make people think bigger, not think less.

AI has proven itself in code and calculation, but most work isn't black and white. Everyday work means making judgement calls, weighing options, and turning rough ideas into working plans. Kai is built to have agents handle all kinds of tasks for the everyday user, so even one person working alone can push their ideas further than ever before. Small business owners and startup teams can spin up entire teams of agents to fill the gaps in their expertise, so they can think bigger and work like a full-fledged enterprise team.

03

The better you understand your AI, the better you work with it.

Working well with AI starts with knowing what it did and why. Kai ensures that agents report back a clear and concise summary of every change along with the evidence behind it, so you're never left guessing. When you can see the reasoning, you can catch mistakes early, steer each step with confidence, and trust the outcomes. As a result, Kai shows you what matters the most to your goals, with all in-depth information only a click away, ensuring that outputs stay focused while keeping costs down.

How we got here

  1. The Beginning, .code

    2024

Marc starts building a personal framework for his development jobs. By December, the first version, .code, is running his projects. His productivity skyrockets, but so does his spend on AI subscriptions and API costs. These agentic frameworks are still in early stages, so keeping costs down while running autonomous workflows is a high priority, though few have solved it.

  2. Harnessing the Agents

    2025

Model switching and task prioritisation are implemented into .code, cutting AI costs by over 75% and fitting most work into a single subscription. By mid-year, all of Marc's freelance workflows run through AI with the same output quality and accuracy, but at a fraction of the cost in both money and time. In December, it feels as though he has mastered the harness' efficiency and agent communication, raising a bigger question: What else can it do?

  3. Finding our Purpose

    2026

Early in the year it is shown that while enterprise AI spend is peaking, many organisations are burning through their annual budgets in just the first quarter. The question then shifts from “How can we use AI?” to “What does it actually deliver, dollar by dollar?” .code was transitioned into Kai, with benchmarks showing reductions in token usage ranging from 30%-90% task dependent, the solution for an ever growing problem. Though we cannot reduce AI dependency, we can increase the efficiency of every token spent by the end user, maximising total productivity.

  4. The Future, Kai

    2026+

Kai is already in an early alpha and moving towards a closed beta, with a full release on the horizon. Whether it's one person handing off everyday tasks, a growing business filling the gaps in their teams, or an organisation looking to make every AI dollar count, Kai makes it all possible. By learning how you work, agents ensure that every token is spent on the appropriate work and each job is carried through to the finish.
